Sculpture Project Reflection

Reflection of Days 1 and 2 of Memory Sculpture Project by Stella McCormack



Within these past two weeks, I have felt as though this project is moving incredibly slow. While sculpture and sculpting is not something that I have expirence in, this project has opened a wide valley of possibilities for me, and while I don't think sculpting is something I want to persue in the future, I think that I enjoy becoming better and better with each class.

With regards to our ongoing project, I am also not sure that it is going amazing. While I am still making progress, the project feels very slow to me. I think once I get the basic shape of the cyllinder that I am trying to create, I will feel much acomplishment and the project will begin to move faster. I didn't have trouble creating the cyllinder-vertabrae shapes that I was going for out of plaster, however I did have to revisist the clay vertabrae shapes that I was going for. Instead of using clay to connect all of the casted shapes, I am using the clay to further enhance the idea of vertabrae and I will be gluing the rings and plaster cyllinders together once everything dries. With regards to the spiral, I have made very little progress, however, in the next two classes I feel I will definitely be able to make a lot of progress, including getting the general spiral shape and attatching it to the cyllinder.
