Process Post - Oil Painting so far

So far I really like oil painting, mostly because it is a break from sculpture. In truth, I truely have been enjoying oil painting a lot. I find it really relaxing to sit and paint for long periods of time, and as we get more into the details, I feel myself beginning to enjoy the process even more. Painting this quarter has made me realize that I love painting small details in oil paint because you can always fix the mistakes and make the painting more accurate as a whole. This gives me a great sense of rewarding and accomplishment which is a big thing that I look for in my art. Nothing has really frustrated me in this process, however at times I can definitely feel myself getting overwhelmed with the complexity of my composition. I have found that taking a few minutes to stretch and recollect really helps with this. Overall, I have really enjoyed using oil paints, and I feel that it it my favorite of all the mediums we have used so far.
